Episode Look At: My Next Life as a Villainess: All routes lead to doom! Episode 8.

Written

At the start, I liked this episode because it seems to focus on Mary and Alan, but then I just hated it. Catarina wants help with the homework again. She happens to run into Mary when coming back from farming. They study at the Student Council's office. They have some problem and the president mentions that they could find information on the east building's library. The school has multiple libraries I suppose. While walking there they run into the whole group. At the (small) library Mary and Maria go out to get cookies and tea. Catarina then spots a book that feeds on users deepest desire. So everybody else then Mary and Maria get sucked in the book. Mary and Maria then try to get them out. This happens when Catarina wishes for candy land and she eats so much that the book couldn't bear it.

I have already mentioned there were points in this show where the character's motives fluctuated but in this episode, it is so obvious. When Sophia's turn comes in the book she does not just want to live with Catarina. She openly says she loves Catarina. What was her character development past episodes... oh right, BEING A FRIEND!!

Moreover, even though there are good gags in the episode, it is just a filler. How is this book important to the overarching story? Why would a magical book, that one could be trapped in for the rest of her life, be just on the self without any warnings? Harry Potter had a section of the library for these books. Why was everyone awkward after coming out of the book. At least Gerald shouldn't. What was that weird ending between Alan and Catarina up on the tree? Certainly, the story would have been better if Alan would turn out not to be in love with Catarina but just conflicted between her and Mary. Also, the fucking book said when desire is fulfilled captured will be saved; but in the end, the book couldn't hold Catarina's desire. You already have the canon; why are you bringing another one?
